TBOES Membership
Welcome to the Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Society (TBOES or the Society). The staff and volunteers of TBOES acknowledge that we gather on the Unceded Traditional Territory of K’ómoks First Nation who have been the traditional keepers of these lands for time immemorial. We are honoured to be able to operate in this place. The Society is a non-profit, federally registered charitable organization which operates Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Centre (TBOEC or the Centre), located on 17 acres of the incredibly beautiful Tribune Bay Provincial Park on Hornby Island.
The Centre has a Park Use Permit with the Province of British Columbia and is in partnership with two school districts: School District 71 (Comox Valley) and School District 69 (Qualicum). The Society and Centre are committed to providing experiential outdoor learning for our staff and guests, to help everyone discover their potential. The Centre offers multi-day, experiential outdoor programs to school and youth groups primarily, but also families, adults, and corporate programs. The Centre has an average of 2500 people a year participate in its programs.
Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Society is working to function as a healthy, independent, non-profit organization – updating policies, governance structure, staffing structure, and customer base – to ensure its long-term viability. These goals are achievable when we work together. Your commitment to volunteer and passion for the organization is vital to our sustainability. Every member brings their own expertise and skills to the group, which enhances our strength and scope as a team and organization.
In addition to the skills you bring to the Society, we hope you will take away an excitement for Outdoor Education, learn about the operation of non-profit organizations, and be fulfilled by the impactful work of providing youth and families with the opportunity to discover their potential in a beautiful outdoor environment.
Your membership is incredibly valued! If you would also like to donate to Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Society, amounts over $25 are eligible for tax receipts.
Membership Contributions
Your annual membership will help subsidize the cost of youth attending our annual programs! Through the Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Centre Bursary, members can support children coming with their school or youth organization, to celebrate inclusivity and reduce the financial barriers of attending our programs.
